Tami Harris, Acorn Neurodiversity

Business overview

Acorn Neurodiversity is a not-for-profit in Tāmaki Makaurau giving neurodivergent children and youth the tools they need to reach their potential. We are building a future in which all neurodivergent people can fully participate, belong and thrive. Acorn supports children and young people ages 2-22 who are experiencing challenges related to autism, ADHD, sensory processing, developmental delays, dyspraxia/DCD, FASD and more. We provide comprehensive diagnostic assessments, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, and mental health services all in one place with coordinated care, giving every family a support team.

We are committed to supporting the whole child which means that upskilling all of the adults around the child is essential. We work closely with early childhood educators and teachers to provide the training and support required to build inclusive schools, so that every child can learn.

Testimonials

Acorn listened to us. I felt "heard". The thing that I loved about them the most was their passion, their energy and, above all, their enthusiasm. They were excited to work with James! He wasn't a "problem" anymore, he was a person with feelings, and they listened to him. - Mum of James

My point of difference

Acorn is the only organisation providing evidence-based multidisciplinary services all in one place with coordinated care for families of neurodivergent or developmentally disabled children.
